Solar advice
Roof checks before installing solar panels in Morocco
A clear roof area alone is not enough. Structure, waterproofing, shade and access deserve a technical assessment before solar panels are installed.
Examine the roof covering
Report leaks, earlier repairs and fragile areas. Coordinate planned roof refurbishment with the installation: removing and reinstalling panels can mean extra work. Clarify responsibility for waterproofing around fixings.
Check the structure
Account for panels, supports, any ballast and wind loads. Photographs alone cannot establish suitability; structural verification may be required for the building and mounting method.
Study shade throughout the day
Chimneys, parapets, trees and neighbouring buildings can reduce generation. Shadows change throughout the day and seasons. Request a shading study and a layout explaining how affected areas are handled.
Establish the usable area
Maintenance access, existing equipment and row spacing on flat roofs reduce available space. Total roof area is therefore not the area available for modules.
Plan cables and inverter placement
Include cable routes, protection and equipment access in the quote. The inverter location must meet manufacturer requirements. Ask for a clear diagram and maintenance arrangements.
Keep the commissioning file
Obtain equipment references, manuals, warranties, layout and commissioning results. Fixing-area photos can help future maintenance. Have the team explain operation and what to monitor.
Frequently asked questions
Can a flat roof work? Yes, subject to suitable design, structural capacity and preserved waterproofing. Must every panel face the same direction? Compare layouts for your site and consumption rather than applying one universal rule. Send photos taken safely, the building address and roof information to Novasolar.
