Solar advice
Sizing a solar water heater in Morocco
Solar water heater sizing depends on hot water demand, the building and local sunlight. Occupant count alone can lead to an unsuitable system.
Describe household habits
Note regular occupants, periods of presence, showers, baths and other hot water uses. Explain major variations such as weekend-only occupation, so normal and occasional demand can be distinguished.
Size the tank and collectors together
Tank volume and collector area must be considered together. A bigger tank does not automatically improve results. The quote should state references, volumes, areas and sizing assumptions.
Plan auxiliary heating
Solar production varies with weather. Backup heating may cover periods when sunlight is insufficient. Specify its type, controls and integration with existing equipment, and how unnecessary backup use is avoided.
Check building constraints
Assess structure, roof access, waterproofing and tank location. Pipe length and insulation also affect performance. Ask for routing and measures to limit losses.
Consider water and maintenance
Report known limescale issues. Water quality and manufacturer requirements influence maintenance. Include operating guidance, component access and an explanation of system protection.
Prepare for absences
Extended absence changes water use. Request equipment-specific holiday and restart instructions; do not improvise settings or shutdown procedures.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one ideal volume for every family? No: occupant count must be supplemented by habits, site conditions and equipment. Does solar provide all hot water year-round? Coverage depends on sizing and conditions. Ask for a project-specific estimate and the role of backup heating. Contact Novasolar with your city, needs and current equipment.
